About Us

Our Company

HOCOA is the local branch of a national franchise that has been serving homeowners for the past 16 years. We provide a "one stop" source for anything and everything you need for your home. One number to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to a live operator for an approved, licensed and insured plumber, electrician, carpenter, housecleaner – whatever you need.

When you call us, you're calling someone in your area who will take the time to solve your home repair needs. We send one of our qualified contractors and follow up with you after the job is completed to ensure your complete satisfaction. We take all the stress and worry out of home repair and maintenance.

Our Owner

HOCOA is owned and operated by John Oelkers. John has an extensive history with home repair and improvement. While in college he worked for a home remodeling contractor and experienced firsthand the effort that goes into a job well done. What an education to see and participate in flooring installations, framing, door and window installs, siding and roofing, painting and finish work! He saw not just how, but why quality materials and good workmanship make the difference.

John's first job after college afforded him the opportunity to use this knowledge. Serving as the Assistant Director of a nonprofit organization that operated group homes for developmentally disabled adults, one of his responsibilities was to oversee the physical condition of each of the twelve homes and authorize all repair and maintenance work. John saw the good, the bad and the ugly with respect to home repair contractors. He learned to check references, licenses and insurance, question estimates and hold contractors accountable. Soon he was able to separate the true craftsman from the bogus rip-offs.

Over the next twenty years, John was engaged as an HR and Facilities Manager, Safety Director and VP for an international food and beverage distribution company, overseeing numerous expansions and facility build outs. This experience proved to be invaluable once John became a homeowner himself. But, even with all his expertise, this process was extremely time-consuming. Who has all this free time to thoroughly check out every contractor, particularly when you have an emergency?

Believing there had to be a better way, he opened HOCOA Home Repair Network to help homeowners in Atlantic and Cape May Counties find reliable, qualified people to take care of their homes. John personally interviews and screens every service contractor that we recommend.
